Camp Director: James Townsend
James Townsend is an Assistant Principal currently working with Kipp Public Schools Northern California. He earned undergraduate degrees from UC Santa Cruz in Political Science and Education prior to completing his Master's Degree in Education Administration and Leadership from Loyola Marymount. James began his tenure in education as a Teach for America teacher. Over the past several years, he has worked as a writing and history teacher, dean, and assistant principal.
A former NCAA basketball player, James loves the intersection of sports, fun, and academics that camp brings. The energy and team atmosphere at his camps are second to none with campers often describing their summers of Camp Brainy Bunch under his leadership as "the best summer ever!"
